Day 1

DAY TRIP PLAN

Morning pick up at the hotel and drive to Portorož, where a boat Regina – the queen of Portorož will be waiting for us to take us to Sečovlje, where we will visit the largest Slovenian salt evaporation pond to experience the salt harvesting. After, we will go to an olive growing farm and have an olive oil tasting. Then the boat will take us to lovely Piran. This gives us an opportunity to enjoy a welcome drink and see the Slovenian coast from the sea. Piran is considered to be one of the most authentic and most photogenic towns on the Adriatic coast. It resembles a large open-air museum with its medieval architecture and its rich cultural heritage. Narrow streets and compact houses give the town its unique charm, while giving you a chance to admire the Venetian architecture. We will have a tour around Piran to explore city main attractions: Tartini square, Church of St George, Minorite monastery, city walls. Then we will go back on the boat and this time, the queen of Portorož will take us on a panoramic tour along the Slovenian coast, from Piran, past the breathtakingly beautiful Moon Bay (Mesečev zaliv) to Izola, where we turn around and head back to Portorož. This gives us an opportunity to enjoy some excellent drinks and have a culinary pampering while appreciating the idyllic views of seaside towns from the sea. Primorska is the most internationally recognised wine region in Slovenia, so in Portorož, we will visit one of the local wine cellars to have a wine tasting. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.
