Pick up at the hotel and drive to Kranjska Gora, a popular Slovenian ski resort. Walk around Alpine Village and stop at the small Lake Jasna next to which one can find a legendary statue of a capricorn with golden horns. Legend talks about a possible goldhorn’s hidden treasure somewhere in the Julian Alps. Drive to the Vršič Pass (1611m), the highest pass in Slovenia and also highest pass in the Eastern Julian Alps, with a breathtaking mountain panorama up to Triglav, the highest mountain of Slovenia. The Vršič Pass links the Upper valley of the Sava River with the Trenta Valley. We stop in the Trenta Valley to go on an optional walk to the spring of the Soča River and have picnic in beautiful nature. After picnic we continue the drive to the Kluže Fortress. The fortress ranks among the most impressive fortifications in Slovenia, particularly due to its picturesque position above the deep gorge of the Koritnica River. We continue to Kobarid, where we will visit the World War I museum, presenting a millennium of the turbulent history of that era. We visit a dairy museum “Od planine do Planike” in Kobarid. The presentation of the history of cheese-making is followed by an unforgettable tasting of cheeses and milk products like sour milk with honey produced there.
