Goriška brda, also known as Slovenian Tuscany is a fairy tale landscape, nested halfway between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea, with abundance of beauties, attractions and experiences. The villages are mostly surrounded by the greenery of vineyards and orchards with roads, track and paths winding among them. Here on this green piece of the earth, the world-famous wines are produced: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Rebula, Refošk, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Friulano.

    The Cherry Festival is the biggest and most attention-grabbing cultural and tourist event visited by over 30,000 visitors from the local and neighbouring Italian and Austrian regions. This event is full of ethnological, cultural and sports events and entertainment for all generations.
  • Open Cellar Days (Wine Days): 6. 6. - 7. 6. 2020, Brda
    Once a year, when spring slowly becomes summer, when sun warms up fruitful land and endless vineyards of Brda, best winemakers open their cellars and create unforgettable experience to visitors.
Day 1

DAY TRIP PLAN

Morning pick up at the hotel for a trip to Kostanjevica pri Novi Gorici to visit the Franciscan monastery, where the last members of the House of Bourbon are buried. Continue to Goriška Brda. Visit the lookout tower (23m high with 144 steps) for a magnificent view of the wine area and in good weather views will stretch all the way to the Julian Alps, Dolomites, river Vipava and Soča Valley, Karst area, Gulf of Trieste and even the Venice Lagoon. As this is a well-known wine area with excellent wines, we visit one of the many wine cellars. First, we will visit the “Goriška Brda” Wine Cellar, where we will taste some typical wines. The Goriška Brda Wine Cellar was born amidst charming vineyards, right in the heart of Goriška Brda region. The mission of one of the most renowned and major Slovene wine producers is to successfully continue and improve the centuries-long tradition of winemaking. While tasting some of the local wines we learn about the wine making process. After cellar’s visit we have some time to enjoy a local culinary experience for lunch. After this fantastic experience, we head southwest of Goriška Brda and visit one of renowned wine estate. Time to enjoy tasting excellent wines. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.
